This script was made for Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.5.Run it using launchd. An easy way to configure launchd is via Lingon.
Picture this: your desktop is full with files and folders. Most of them you probably won’t look at again. It just sitting there clutering your desktop.
This script will simply make a folder on your desktop of documents folder with the current date and put all the data in that folder.
I run this script everytime I login. That way I start with a fresh start.
Off course you’ll need to delete the folders of it’s contents yourself.
Open the script in a good text editor. All you need to do is edit the prefs. These are the prefs:
# Clean my desktop [1 = Yes, 0 = No]
# Clean my downloads folder [1 = Yes, 0 = No]
# Make a link to the last created folder [1 = Yes, 0 = No]
# Label the last created folder [1 = Yes, 0 = No]
# Select your color for the label
# 0 = None
# 1 = Orange
# 2 = Red
# 3 = Yellow
# 4 = Blue
# 5 = Purple
# 6 = Green
# 7 = Gray
# Location of the logfile
After you’ve changed this save it and run it!
I’ve noticed that when you run the script within the Terminal it will create a folder with the month name in lower case: like dec.
But when you run it using launchd it wil make Dec. Remember that when testing.
Finally a word to the wise...
Although I haven't had any problems with the script the risk is still all yours. Whatever may happen while running this script: I'm not responsible!
I'm curious if this script works for you. Let me know!
